Lovely smell in the house

The christmas cake is baking just now.
The sprouts will go on a low simmer any day!

    What is in a Christmas cake to make it smell so good? Not familiar with the dessert. We don't have a particular cake for that holiday, but Bill will eat pumpkin pie for ALL holidays and the in-between days too. LOL!
