We took the little girls out into town whilst the removal men emptied their old house and moved everything to their new one a short distance away. So as we were in town and I had the cordinates for some geocaching and one just so happened to be slap bang in the middle of town off we go. It was our older granddaughter (11 years) who got the clue and within seconds the tiny container was in her hands, well done C.
Then it was off for coffee and hot chocolate before heading back a couple of hours later to their new house to help their parents unpack. The weather kept fine for the move which was a blessing, and we even managed to work in their new garden and catch some sunshine.
Where they live in the middle of England there are some lovely canal walks, so of course I had looked out some caches to hopefully find in our 4 night stay in their market town. We found 6 in all, with the first of them being enroute south on the motorway when we stopped off for a break from driving from Scotland to England, which from our house to our daughters house is a 7 hour drive. So of course it made sense if we were stretching our legs then we may as well grab a cache! Which we did find.
But because it had been raining most of the way down and for a number of days beforehand our short hike at the service area became a wet walk through long wet grass, and the thing was we had taken wellingtons and waterproof trousers with us which were in the boot of the car, did we think to put them on? did we heck !so of course by the time we got back to the car our jeans and trainers were wet! but a change of shoes for me helped, plus we were not too far from our destination of our daughters house. But wet legs of jeans is not a comfort to travel in!
These are some of the photographs of our stay, I meant to take more of the caches but I kept forgetting to take them, we were back in the car when I remembered and on our way again.
This was our first find on the trip in Leicestershire, the log book and container.
Then yours truly replacing the container, which was magnetic and on the base of the railing on the
footpath next to a busy road. As it was magnetic I had visions of me having to look at the crash barriers you can see in the photograph! and on a busy road! but it wouldn't have been the first time doing that!
We walked through here a couple of times looking for the cache, then realised we needed to be up on the footpath. Some nice barges on the canal.
This is through the tunnel.
From the bridge where I replaced the cache.
A barge pulling away as we walked back to the pub car park.
Looks wonderful. Nice weather as well what a bonus.

ReplyDeleteThis is England Ann, and if you continued further south you would find my garden as 'dry as a bone'! I have just this very minute come in from hosing down the vegetables patch. Don't forget to try the Leicestershire cheese. Excellent.
Cheers....B
'Red Leicester' is my favourite.
DeleteWhat a funny place to have to find a cache.
ReplyDeleteWell it all looks very tranquil there. Hope you enjoyed yourselves.
Foody, that was a not too bad area to search although it was busy at times, we have done one much much worse for want of a better word than that lol. The one i am talking about took 2 attempts as it is at a very busy road (dual carriage way) plus a roundabout, Talk about getting funny looks from drivers!! Lol
