We are getting the tail end of Hurricane Katia, as are other parts of Britain. And she is a beep beep nuisance!!!! Yesterday we had high winds but not much rain, just the odd spit or two. She is certainly making up for it today! very high winds and rain and when it rains it does come down very heavy.
Our house is next to a field which belongs to the council. A few very old trees are on the edge of the field, one with a very large hole in it which has been like since before we moved here 7 years ago, you can just about make out the hole in the tree behind our wall.
This is a very large branch which has come off of one of the trees this morning or maybe through the night, we placed a metre stick on the ground to show the size of the branch, you can just make out a snapped off part of the branch above the metre stick on the left. The branch is full of leaves and some size! hubby has emailed a photograph in with his email to the local council today saying these trees really need checking.
Aww poor tree!
ReplyDeleteWe have been so lucky here

Hello Ann, my, but that's one dangerous tree - hope the Council takes notice of your hubby's complaint. I can recommend contacting the Environmental Health Department at SAC, they've been very helpful to me in the past. It was bin day here today and the refuse collectors managed to leave a wheelie bin teetering on the edge of the pavement - needless to say it blew over and ended up in the middle of the road. If it wasn't so exasperating it would have been amusing to see motorist edging their way past said bin - why didn't one of them stop, get out and simply move it?!?! The one good thing I can say about Hurricane Katia is that she has been a good excuse to stay in crafting :) Elizabeth x
ReplyDeleteOur daughter has just arrived home from a holiday in Scotland and her flight out of Edinburgh was delayed several hours because of the wind so I hope by now you are over the worst.
ReplyDeleteLucky the branch didn't do any damage. Our gum trees are very dangerous like that and come down on top of houses a lot in bad storms causing a huge amount of damage.
I'm off to look at Sally's photos - she's " bagged 2 munroes" while she's been visiting this time. I hope there are lots of photos of the heather in bloom - I need to visit Scotland when the heather is in bloom one day.
Cheers
Helen
Lucky it didn't do damage.
ReplyDeleteHey, Helsie, the start of heather is around the end of the bilberries, so after I have taken you bilberry picking you can go off to Ann's and see the heather. (We have heather here too, of course and it's looking good right now!)
