After the higher temperatures on Friday through the day which thawed our small amount of snow the temperatures plumeted that night and these photographs are the result. The river at the town end and upstream passed the stepping stones is flowing, but the area inbetween is what what it looks like in these photographs for about a mile is frozen into broken pieces of ice in fact they are slabs some up to 6 inches thick and the size of paving slabs,. Everyone was out today walking along by the river to take in the amazing sight, I have never seen the river like this, truly amazing to look at. I hope my photographs give you an idea of what it looks like, I took a load when we went out for a walk after lunch today,

Hi hun
ReplyDeletewow fab pics, bet that was something to see, sue,x
Hi Ann,
ReplyDeleteThe ice is really spectacular in your pictures. That ice has a name I would bet. Wonder what the weather man would call it? Thanks for sharing. We had a blizzard last night. It snowed from about suppertime and all night. The wind was blowing 40-50 miles per hour and whipped up big drifts. It even pushed the snow through the screen on our sliding glass door and the snow is now stuck on the glass and there is a pile between the two. Difficult to clean out. Plus the temps are in the single digits and will get down to below zero tonight. Very cold.
In Minneapolis, the football stadium is covered with a soft cover. It is called the Metro Dome. It ripped, and then collapsed with 17 inches on snow on it. Not sure how much snow we had there. I worry about our house being all alone and if we should have someone check it out. So winter is here now, for sure.
Love, Martha
Yes Martha we have been to the Metro Dome and did hear on the sport channel on the radio this afternoon that the roof had collapsed.
ReplyDeletelook at the jacket Bill has on in the photogrpah above, it is a Green Packers jacket he says it is like wearing a duvet as it is so warm, he bought it a few years ago in Stevens Point WI. He went to a football match in Warwickshire last weekend and the Canadian barman commented on his jacket saying there were not many of those about in that area lol.
That sure is amazing! Pretty too!
