Another geocaching day

The geocaching gods must have been looking down on us today!
I had set myself a target of finding enough geocaches to take me to 500 finds by Hogmanay (31 December 2015)
We were out on Sunday to a country park walk about 12 miles from us, we did quite well that day with 6 finds each.
Then we went back today and managed to find 13, which DH had sorted out the night before so that we did a loop of geocaching rather than go back and forth.  It was a good plan of his as it worked.

Although at one point he did go all Bear Grylls on me and decided we should cut out about a 20 minute walk which we didn't need to do as that wasn't on our "to do list".  So we set off through long grass and eventually we did find another proper path that took us to the other geocaches on our list on the GPS and phone.  So well done "Bear Grylls"!

We met other folk out enjoying the dry day, along with a good number of dogs who seemed to be enjoying their ramble through the country park going by the mud that was covering a good number of them, also we met 4 horses and their riders, (Zoe I thought it was going to be you)  ;-)

At one point we were under a footbridge looking for a geocache, we couldn't be seen but we could hear folk walking across.  A dog popped his head over the edge my husband saw him so he said hello, the dog got a fright and started barking then when we emerged from under the bridge I did say to the dog's owner that we were geocachers and "not, up to no good!"  he laughed and said we should keep that to ourselves.

Then after my 500th find we were walking back to the car park when we heard then saw a young deer run along the side of the main road he jumped the fence there, then jumped another fence next to us before running off in to the woods,  beautiful to watch, it jumped so high and how it missed the trees right behind the first fence I will never know.  He was so agile, unlike myself earlier today trying to scramble down under the bridge!  I certainly needed my hiking stick there!

So I managed to get to 500 finds today.

A few photographs of our day trip out today.

We like these kinds of geocache containers, ammo cans.

It is hidden beneath this fallen try.

it was after this photo he decided to copy Bear Grylls!

The cache container under the bridge.
It is a bolt with a tiny log roll to sign inside.

A wasted climb here for hubby! lol I just lent over a bit from the  path side
and spotted where it looked like the cache was hidden.

  1. Sadly not me Ann. I've done nothing other than eat in ages. Your part of the world certainly looks more exciting to take human (or even you?)out for a wee plod. How much further could you travel hunting your caches if I were with you.

    1. Probably a lot further Zoe :-). We kept spotting tell tale signs where the horses had been, so you would have come in very handy. Mind you we would have had to thether you to a tree at some point on our journey as we had to search trees in a bit from the paths. But one of us would have stayed with you :-). We did climb a steep hill and could see hoove marks, I did ask hubby if horses could climb up there , but obviously they did, it was steep and muddy though. It's very very windy here tonight!X
