I thought I would share with you the latest we have done to our house. Over the past 9 years in this house we have done many things to it, to get it to our liking. The latest is the back garden. The previous owners had a huge decking area with lots of overhead pergolas etc, they needed to be pulled down as it wasn't really safe, so that was done a number of years ago, we had a new decking put in but we decided again it was too big, so we reduced it after a few years, in fact we have reduced it in size twice, we did that ourselves, then hubby decided about a month ago maybe we just need a much smaller decking area, so out came the tools again and we reduced it further, which we find is ideal for us now. Now we have a small decking area, and more space for more fruit trees. It has been well used in the past few weeks with the great heatwave the UK has been enjoying. We bought 2 chairs and a bistro table which sit perfectly on it.
Before After

We are really pleased with the work they have done. we have kept some of the old slabs as there is some work we are going to do that cannot be seen in the photographs. We have a small greenhouse which can just been seen in the last photograph above. We are planning on putting the paving stones in front of the greenhouse, this is a sheltered area where we can put the BBQ.
Oooh, very, very nice, and you are getting the weather to enjoy it. It looks really continental!
ReplyDeleteThank you Foody. yes the weather is lovely, we are getting used to this.
DeleteYour garden looks lovely July. Here in Holland we also have a heatwave...I wouldn't mind if it gets a litlle bit cooler..
ReplyDeleteErna x
Erna thank you. Good to hear you are having the heatwave as well. Makes such a difference, at least if it get too hot we can always come indoors to cool down.
DeleteThat is so beautiful. Not a lot of grass for me to trim for you though. I hear humans don't like trimming grass, weird if you ask me but then we know that humans are odd creatures.
ReplyDeleteThank you Zoe. oh there is grass but not in the back garden, although there used to be some behind the hedge on the left as that was for our lovely Border Collie, the wee soul. Still miss her. anyway we plan on putting a bit of grass back down at that area just in case we get another dog. there are slabs to go down just at the front of the greenhouse. we have a big front garden with grass and also at the side. so feel free to come along any time you feel like munching on it x
ReplyDeleteHello Ann,
ReplyDeleteWe're all OK here, thanks. I don't find time in the summer months for blogging and ideas for subjects are hard to come by.
I intend to carry on with my Bournville blog and some of the others come the 'longer nights'.
I've noticed that quite a few bloggers are having a bit of a break.
Cheers.....Bernard
